Working with Teenagers within HCI Research: Understanding Teen-Computer Interaction
There has been limited consideration of teenagers (defined as 12-19 year olds in this work) as participants and end-users in Child-Computer Interaction and mainstream HCI communities. Teenagers reside in a fascinating and dynamic space between childhood and adulthood, and working more closely with teenagers within HCI may bring great insights and benefits. This paper provides an overview of tee...
متن کاملHCI Human-Computer Interaction and Collective Intelligence
Human-computer interaction (HCI) works to understand and to design interactions between people and machines. Increasingly, human collectives are using technology to gather together and coordinate. This mediation occurs through volunteer and interestbased communities on the web, through paid online marketplaces, and through mobile devices. The lessons of HCI can therefore be brought to bear on d...
متن کاملGesture Recognition for Human-Computer Interaction (HCI)
Considerable effort has been put towards developing intelligent and natural interfaces between users and computer systems. This is done by means of a variety of modes of information (visual, audio, pen, etc.) either used individually or in combination. The use of gestures as means to convey information is an important part of human communication. The automatic recognition of gestures enriches H...
متن کاملFrom Human-Computer Interaction to Human-Robot Social Interaction
Human-Robot Social Interaction became one of active research fields in which researchers from different areas propose solutions and directives leading robots to improve their interactions with humans. In this paper we propose to introduce works in both human robot interaction and human computer interaction and to make a bridge between them, i.e. to integrate emotions and capabilities concepts o...
متن کاملThe Review and Analysis of Human Computer Interaction (HCI) Principles
The History of HCI is briefly reviewed together with three HCI models and structure including CSCW, CSCL and CSCR. It is shown that a number of authorities consider HCI to be a fragmented discipline with no agreed set of unifying design principles. An analysis of usability criteria based upon citation frequency of authors is performed in order to discover the eight most recognised HCI principles.
